1° year Ph.D. student in 'Linguistics, Applied linguistics and Linguistic engineering' University of Turin - Faculty of Foreign Languages.

Degree in Linguistics obtained at the University of Turin - Faculty of Letters and Philosophy - Course of study in Communications Sciences, Multimedia Communication curriculum.
Vote: 110/110.
Thesis title: "Electric words, a linguistic analysis of chat-lines".
That study, based on two years of research, investigates the specific variety of Italian used in Internet Relay Chat: I employ both linguistically grounded observations and semiotic ones (on cooperation, on the shape of social and phisical space and on connections between different kind of CMC).

RESEARCH PROJECT


His Ph.D. research consists of deisigning and creating an e-couse (a web site) on deixis, and verifing its efficiency. This research idea was generated by the connection between the net concept as space and the linguistic phenomenon related to context.

ACTIVITIES


He's implementing a tool which can evaluate the art of plain write (here).

From December 2003 he's the corpora site webmaster.

From November 2002 he works on FIRB (supervisor: professor Carla Marello) in a specific area: written Italian morphological tagging and textual mark-up.
FIRB topic: "Italian textual varieties: the importance of diachronic, textual and contextual variety of annotation and query of general and specific corpora".

From November 2002 he's the doctorate webmaster.

He started to work on ITALANT, national supervisor: professor Lorenzo Renzi, COFIN 1999 and 2001. He's a member of Turin unit (supervisor: professor Mortara Garavelli). The aim of that unit is to create a twelve century Italian corpus, morphologically tagged and available on line.

He's personal media and CMC editor of CERBERO, Journal of Communication Science Of Turin University.
